Tai Chi Chuan. Be it on the open avenues and narrow homely alleys of China or the Kung Fu flicks on Hollywood movie screens; be it the middle-aged guy that sells steamed pork buns downstairs or the "American Dream" movie hero martial artist, it seems everyone knows a move or two. Tai Chi is all about overcoming firmness through gentleness; overcoming the fast with the slow – and has deep ties with Chinese philosophy of Taoism. To those on the outside, this martial art has always been profound, and in a sense, unfathomable.

Itinerary and Arrangements

Day 1

7:30-11:30  Departure from Shanghai (Gather at the specified address and take bus out to the destination)

11:30-12:00 Arrive in Tiantai and have lunch in the city center.

12:00-14:00 Tiantai – The campsite

Set down at the campsite, a beautiful spot located atop a 400+ meter high cliff, with a 270° open panoramic view out onto the nearby city CBD area and horizon behind it.

14:00-16:00 After setting up your tent, take a short break. Next up we go hiking on mountain ridges and through the valleys - the birthplace of a famous compendium of Wu Gong Kung Fu techniques! There's a little small mountain cave here. Who knew this is where that certain fabled Kung Fu technique would be uncovered! This book distilled the fundamental techniques of Shaolin and Wudang – the two authoritative schools of Chinese Kung Fu.

16:00-19:00 About an hour later, head back to camp to start cooking for our BBQ feast!

19:00-21:30 When the BBQ is done and the curtain of night falls, our boardgame fun begins! (We’ve got Exploding Kittens, Secret Hitler, Landlord/Monopoly, Werewolf Kill, Crabs, and other fun games~)

(Note: You have the choice between tent camping and a bed in the Home-inn, take your pick!)

Day 2

6:00-6:30 Rise and shine!

6:30-7:30 Put on your robes then move to the eight diagrams on the terrace. Here your course on Taoist Meditation with the Master begins. Taoist Meditation is a Taoist life-vitality breathing exercise. It's similar to meditation, but a little different.

7:30-8:30 Train Tai Chi with the grandmaster. Tai Chi is a national-level Intangible Heritage, Cultural Art. It has roots in Chinese Confucian and Taoist philosophy, with the concept of the Ying&Yang dialectic at its core. Tai Chi is multi-faceted, promoting both physical and mental health, and is useful in self-defense. It combines wisdom from Chinese Yi-ology, Chinese pressure point principles, ancient 'guiding' techniques and Taoist Meditation to create an inside-and-out balanced, gentle, slow, light, yet forceful and above all purely Chinese martial art form.

8:30-9:30 After Tai Chi hit a country-style restaurant for breakfast.

9:30-10:30 Take a little rest, then prepare to head down the mountain.

10:30-13:00 One hour's bus ride and we're in the CBD.

13:00-17:00 Back to Shanghai by bus.
